I was always on this quest to put a band together and get that hot record sound, making all kinds of dumb sacrifices in the process and losing most of my energy at the shows trying to get everybody paid.
Even though people kept saying that they wanted to hear me alone, I insisted that my true calling involved being a bandleader as well. Maybe just trying to prove myself at something…
It surprises us now when someone can cast spells with their instrument, beyond just singing and writing.
My first step in this new record I’m working on has been to make solo demos of all the songs. Even though I want to produce the tracks with a band, it’s calmed me down to be able to hear the solo versions while I put the rest together over time.
I’m enjoying them now…
